Changes to the professional liability insurance program

The CPA profession is pleased to advise you of two recent changes to the professional liability insurance program.

New Name:  CPA Professional Liability Plan Inc.

AICA Services Inc., the administrator of the profession’s professional liability insurance program, has changed its name to CPA Professional Liability Plan Inc.

The purpose of this change is to better reflect the recent unification of the Canadian accounting profession under the CPA banner.  Although their name has changed, the mandate remains the same – to provide small and medium sized accounting firms across Canada and in Bermuda with access to a stable plan of insurance at a reasonable cost.

Welcome to CPA, CGA Members

In addition, they would like to welcome new CPA, CGA members to the plan. CPA Professional Liability Plan Inc. will be administering the legacy CGA Canada’s Errors and Omissions Insurance program as of the August 1, 2016 renewal. There will be a transitional period of two years, during which time there will be some differences in coverage and premiums between the legacy CGA plan and for those firms already insured in the existing CPA program.

Instructions for CPA, CGAs on how to renew their errors and omissions insurance policy will be sent out shortly.  There will be no changes in the renewal process for firms already insured in the existing CPA Insurance program.
