Celebrating the future of the profession!

Celebrating the graduates at the local Grande Prairie Convocation are: (Left to right) Ben Sander, Partner at Sander Rose Bone Grindle LLP (and Vice Chair of the CPA BC Board); John Fuller, CPA Alberta Board member; Larry Brownoff, CPA Alberta Director of Member Engagement; and Jason Grindle, Chair of the Grand Prairie Chapter of CPAs and Partner at Sander Rose Bone Grindle LLP.

During February, CPA Alberta formally welcomed the 802 successful writers of the September 2018 Common Final Examination (CFE) to the profession at the CPA Alberta Convocations. The Convocation activities, held in Calgary on February 1 and 2 and in Edmonton on February 23, attracted approximately 600 graduates to cross the stage at the Convocation Ceremonies and almost 3,000 guests to the Convocation Dinner and Dances.

In addition to the CPA Alberta graduation events in Alberta’s two major cities, local graduation events were organized by CPA Chapters in Red Deer, Lethbridge, and Grande Prairie. CPA Alberta board and staff members were in attendance at those events, as well, to bring congratulations from the organization and celebrate with graduates and their supporters.

As usual, the Convocation Ceremonies contained a diverse mix of heartwarming, humorous, and informative stories about the graduates. A particular highlight was Calgary graduate Greg Allen being accompanied onstage by his very proud grandfather, Keith Allen; this was one of numerous examples of family members being onstage with a graduate to welcome them to the CPA profession.

Congratulations again to all of this year’s graduates—we look forward to seeing your continued successes in the future!
