At its September meeting, the CPA Alberta Board formally approved the Guidance to support the CPA Alberta Rules of Professional Conduct. The rules were passed by a member vote in May. The Guidance provides context and assists members in interpreting the Rules of Professional Conduct. These documents are available on the CPA Alberta website here.
The majority of the principles in the new Bylaws and Rules are very similar to the ones you’re used to in the profession. Any changes are intended to improve, strengthen, and reinforce the high-quality standards, dedication to ethics, and professionalism of both the organization and its members moving forward.
Notable differences between the CPA Alberta Rules of Conduct and your legacy Rules of Conduct, as well as the differences between the CPA Alberta Bylaws and your legacy Bylaws are also available on the CPA Alberta website.
Changes impact members differently depending on the sector they work in, so notable differences are also outlined in each document for professional accountants working in industry, and those working in public practice or those offering services to the public.
