The CPA Alberta Board consists of 12 members, with nine members being CPAs elected by the membership at large and three being public members appointed by the Government of Alberta. Recently, two new public members were appointed to the CPA Alberta Board: Karen Graham and Simar Gill. They join returning public member Dianne Pettie QC, whose term was recently renewed by the Government of Alberta.
Karen brings a wealth of experience to the CPA Alberta Board. She has a BComm in Finance from the University of Calgary, is a member of FEI Canada, Calgary Chapter, and is currently the manager of Corporate Finance with Husky Energy Inc. She has been in that position for the past five-plus years and in her previous roles, she’s worked for major financial corporations helping ensure continued growth and financial returns. Karen has volunteered in a number of positions throughout her life as well.
Simar is a professional engineer and has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of industries, including automotive, manufacturing, oil and gas, and utilities. He is currently the manager of Supply Chain Management (SCM) with Enmax Corporation in Calgary and has years of experience in management roles. Simar is a strategic supply chain leader and has delivered high-value solutions in a number of key industry areas over his professional career. His education and certifications are numerous, along with his pursuit of continued professional training and development.
CPA Alberta would like to thank the two outgoing public CPA Alberta Board members – Joel Gehman PhD and Jim Dewald PhD – for all their efforts and service over the past term. Their generous contribution of time and expertise to the Board over the past three-plus years didn’t go unnoticed. All Alberta CPAs thank them for their dedicated service to the profession.
